Here, you can get BIOS for emulators like, PSX BIOS (SCPH1001.bin), PS2 BIOS (SCPH10000.bin, SCPH3004R.bin, SCPH39001.bin), Sega Genesis/Mega Drive BIOS (md.bios, sega.bios), Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) BIOS (disksys.rom), Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) BIOS (snes.sfc), Nintendo 64 BIOS (n64.v64) and Game Boy Advance BIOS (gba_bios.bin) etc. I'm surprised no one has really went out of there way to put out an emulator which is scoped to support only 5200.Īnyway, any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.Welcome to the BIOS section of OldROMs. That's great if you want to get your old Atari BASIC programs running again, but if you just want to play 5200 games, you're in for a world of pain. It seems like all the available emulators out there that support the 5200 are "toaster ovens" because they're also designed to support Atari computers which had similar hardware (e.g. So, if you really want 5200 working seamlessly using this emulator in RL, you apparently have to specify a custom /cartmapper CLI switch per ROM! Seriously, whomever designed this emulator didn't take launchers like RL & LaunchBox into account. To add to the fun, in Altirra, you also have to specify a "cartmapper" (e.g. Even worse, Altirra takes it upon itself to update it's own ini file any time you try out a CLI switch! So, you have to be careful bc if you make a mistake, you'll have to edit the ini file manually (which is not well-documented if at all) to revert the settings it decided to make default because. So, anyway, I haven't been able to determine what CLI switch I am missing. This, even if you include a CLI switch specifying the 5200 hardware (you'd think it would choose a default OS for you based on the hardware you select unless you specify otherwise). Where I'm stuck is that Altirra needs you to specify which OS to use (in this case, we need "Altirra OS for 5200"). I can get into many games using the Altirra GUI, but I'm having no luck figuring out the CLI switches to get it to load a game seamlessly. I've tried a bunch of emulators, but finally settled on Altirra (mostly because this was the only emulator where I was able to actually get a 5200 ROM to load!). Unfortunately, I'm finding that the 5200 is one of the more difficult systems to get working! I'm throwing up my hands and asking for some help! I would really like to get Atari 5200 working in HS/RL since it was the very first console I owned as a kid.
